MOTOWN x CARHARTT WIP

Motown founder Berry Gordy worked in the Ford factory in the 1950s, and at the same time nourished himself as a songwriter. Delivered hits to soul singer Jackie Wilson.

At that time, A songwriter was paid per. Song they made and did not receive royalties when the song was played, as it is today. So there wasn't a lot of money in writing songs back then. But Gordy believed it would turn, and was convinced that if he simply released his own productions he would earn more. After several calls, Gordy started his own record label, which he called Motown, an abbreviation of Motor Town, which Detroit was called because of all the car factories in town.

The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Jackson's 5 are just some of the world renowned artists who have been at Motown over time.

Carhartt and Motown have teamed up to pay tribute to the music and artists of the iconic record label.
